The Hive Project

There are many simple, efficient, and adaptable "engineering miracles" in nature. For example, bees use minimal wax to build lightweight yet sturdy honeycombs that can store a large amount of honey. Mathematically, it has been proven that the regular hexagon is the optimal shape for dividing space into equal parts. Inspired by this honeycomb structure, the design team explored ways to create a new kind of living environment. They combined the characteristics of the honeycomb with architectural elements to develop a unique hybrid living space for the future.
