NEON Theatre
Our design concept transforms the venue into a stage, offering visitors a theatrical experience that begins even before they step inside. The facade is conceived as a grand theatre curtain, evoking a sense of mystery and anticipation as it conceals the extraordinary experiences within. This playful design choice aims to engage visitors’ curiosity, creating an emotional connection as they approach the venue.
Battersea Power Station, a decommissioned coal-fired power plant on the south bank of the River Thames, is one of London’s most iconic landmarks. Renowned for its striking architecture and cultural resonance, it gained global fame through its appearance on Pink Floyd’s Animals album cover, cementing its place in popular culture. The site’s rich history and visual prominence make it a perfect setting for this groundbreaking venue, blending heritage with innovation.
Curtains up!
Drawing inspiration from the Battersea Power Station’s iconic white chimneys, we have reimagined their historical significance through a contemporary lens. The facade features a sleek, modern interpretation of these chimneys, seamlessly integrating their architectural language into a forward-looking design. The corrugated surface of the chimneys interacts dynamically with natural light, creating an ever-changing dance of light and shadow that brings the structure to life.
Digital Veil
The structure features a dual-layer facade system combining functionality with striking visual impact. The inner layer forms the building’s core envelope, while the outer “curtain” facade, a flowing, wavy white veil, wraps the building in an elegant, sculptural form. Its undulating edges lift at key entrances, creating dynamic, inviting access points.
Designed to interact with natural light, the curtain facade’s wavy contours cast evolving patterns of light and shadow throughout the day, enhancing the structure’s connection to its surroundings. A multilayer digital system integrates translucent polycarbonate with LED pixels, enabling vibrant graphic displays that elevate visual appeal and offer interactive, unforgettable visitor experiences.
The Green Stage
The building will feature a green roof, enhancing its sustainability and seamlessly integrating it with the natural environment. Surrounding the venue, a thoughtfully designed public space will serve as a vibrant gathering area for social events and leisure activities. The space will come to life with dynamic digital content displayed on the facade, adding an engaging element to the atmosphere.
The entire landscape design has been carefully developed in alignment with the recent Battersea Power Station urban redevelopment. It prioritizes biodiversity by incorporating local shrubs and tall grasses, fostering a harmonious connection with the surrounding ecosystem.
